The Charlotte Legal Diversity Clerkship (CLDC) program operates with one basic goal—to improve diversity in the Mecklenburg Bar Association by attracting top first-year law students with diverse backgrounds to Charlotte through corporate and law firm summer internships.
In the Lunch with a Lawyer Program, through a partnership with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), lawyers will serve as mentors to eighth graders throughout the school year. Mentors will meet with their mentee at least once a month for lunch to serve as a positive role model and to provide the student with a window into the legal profession.
The Mentorship Alliance offers an opportunity for members to foster diverse connections throughout the Bar with an emphasis on promoting the values of equitable, inclusive professional leadership development.
The Increasing Diversity in the Legal Profession Conference is a one-day conference designed to encourage diverse students to explore a career in the legal profession. The Conference is FREE for registrants and provides diverse high school and undergraduate students who are interested in the law with an opportunity to be exposed to law schools representatives, law students, attorneys and local judges.
