The Bar's Referral Service to Lawyers and Other Community Resources
If you are able to afford legal services, click here.
The Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) is a public service of the Mecklenburg Bar Association that has been in service for more than 60 years. The LRS matches people who need a lawyer, and can afford to pay, with a North Carolina licensed and insured lawyer in good standing. Lawyers participating in the LRS may set and collect their own consultation fees, if any. This information, and any fee structure moving forward, shall be discussed between the client and the lawyer.
If you are able to afford legal service, please:
(1) Click the "Request a Referral" button below. (2) Fill out your contact information. (3) Carefully review the list of legal scenarios provided. Select which scenario best applies to your legal matter. Your selections will determine which attorneys will be referred to you. (4) Select the county where your legal matter is pending and how you found the Lawyer Referral Service. (4) Click "Submit Form." Upon submission, a list of up to three attorneys who meet your selections will be displayed on screen and emailed to you. You are responsible for contacting the attorney(s). They will not contact you first. If you require assistance, please contact info@meckbar.org. |

Please do NOT request a referral for free legal services. The LRS is not a pro bono agency. If you cannot afford legal counsel, please see our list of community resources. Alternatively, you may wish to visit LawHelpNC.org for other offerings to find legal help.
For those who do not know what type of lawyer they might need or what type of legal matter they may have:
The staff at the Mecklenburg Bar Association are NOT lawyers and cannot provide you with legal advice. If you are unsure what type of lawyer you might need please visit LawHelpNC.org or North Carolina Free Legal Answers (NCFLA) for guidance.
