26th Judicial District Bar (26th JD Bar)/Mecklenburg Bar Association (MBA) Events:
• Annual Meeting: (Approximately 150-200 attendees.) The 26th JD Bar and MBA Annual Meeting is the Bar's yearly meeting of its members. Attendees enjoy a barbecue lunch while volunteer lawyers are recognized, attorneys who have passed away in the past year are remembered, the two board of directors are elected, and the new presidents are sworn-in. This event is held in May.
• Fall & Spring Swearing-In Ceremonies: The Swearing-In Ceremonies are a personalized celebration of achievement. Attorneys who have passed the North Carolina Bar Exam receive individual introductions by established 26th JD Bar attorneys before being sworn in to the North Carolina State Bar. The Fall Ceremony is typically held in October and the Spring Ceremony is usually in May. For more information check here to view our Swearing- In FAQs.
• Holiday Party: (Approximately 100 attendees.) This event provides an informal, relaxed atmosphere for Bar members and judges to gather, reconnect and create new relationships. The party is held in early December.
Mecklenburg Bar Foundation (MBF)/Mecklenburg Bar Association (MBA) Events:
(Sponsorships range from $500 - $5,000 depending on event)

The luncheon includes the presentation of the Ayscue Professionalism Award that recognizes a current or former 26th JD Bar member for exemplary professionalism through outstanding service to the Bar and the community. Net proceeds benefit the Mecklenburg Bar Foundation (MBF). The Law & Society Luncheon typically takes place in November or early December.
• McMillan Fellowship Dinner: (Approximately 100-150 attendees.) The MBF’s McMillan Fellowship Fund promotes justice and innovation within our local legal system by awarding paid fellowships to law students interested in pursuing a career with a local nonprofit or government agency. The primary source of financial support for these fellowships is the annual McMillan Fellowship Dinner. The dinner features a keynote speaker and the presentation of the annual Julius L. Chambers Diversity Champion Award. The dinner is typically held in February.
• Legal Eagle Charity Golf Tournament: (Approximately 75-100 attendees.) This tournament, hosted jointly by Mecklenburg Bar Association & Mecklenburg Bar Foundation, is a great way for attorneys to enjoy some fun and fellowship with the added benefit of supporting organizations and projects with a legal nexus in our community.
