The Mecklenburg County Bar (MCB) is requested from time to time to endorse, participate in, and otherwise, give its corporate support to activities and programs undertaken by other associations and entities, and the Board of Directors deems it desirable for the MCB to have the following guidelines for responding to such requests.
General Guidelines
Because the MCB is part of the North Carolina State Bar as created by statute and thus a state or governmental agency, and because all members of the State Bar who are residents of Mecklenburg County must be members of the MCB, the MCB should not corporately endorse or otherwise give its corporate support to activities and programs undertaken by other associations and entities. The MCB may co-sponsor with other associations and entities activities and programs which are fully consistent with and advance the purposes and stated goals of the MCB.
With these guidelines, a decision not to accept any such request may be made by the President and MCB Executive Director, and decision to accept any such request shall be made by the Board of Directors upon recommendation of the President and MCB Executive Director and with full information as to such programs or activities and the co-sponsor(s) thereof.
