I'm an attorney, what are my membership options?
As a licensed attorney, you may join at Level I, II or III. We also offer a Government/Public Sector rate, Retired/Inactive rate and a Newly Admitted Rate. View the different levels.
I'm not an attorney, can I still join?
Yes! We offer several options for non-attorneys. Legal Professionals, Law School students and non-legal affiliates each have different rates. View the different levels.
Which levels of membership are considered Affiliate Members in the MBA Bylaws?
As per the MBA Bylaws: An Affiliate Member is either a retired lawyer or a lawyer on inactive status with any jurisdiction, a legal or other professional, or a student enrolled in law school or a pre-law or paralegal program.
As an Affiliate Member, can I join a committee, section or division?
Yes, as per the MBA Bylaws: An Affiliate Member shall be: (1) a non-voting member of the MBA; (2) ineligible for MBA Board and Officer positions; (3) eligible for appointment to any Committee, Section, Division, or Other Group with full voting rights on that Committee, Section, Division, or Other Group; (3) entitled to enjoy such responsibilities, rights, and privileges as designated by the MBA Board; and (4) required to pay annual dues as prescribed by the MBA Board.
What are the different committees for the MBA?

There are currently 15 sections for MBA members. Sections are for attorneys only unless indicated below.

What are the qualifications for being a member of the Young Lawyers Division (YLD)?
The YLD is open to MBA Members who are 36 years of age or younger or are within their first 10 years of practice. The YLD is one of the best ways for new lawyers to meet and network with their colleagues through a variety of social events and opportunities to volunteer within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community. Relationships begun today in the YLD can make a huge difference in careers tomorrow. Cost to join is $35 per year. Questions regarding MBA YLD Membership should go to yld@meckbar.org.
What are the qualifications for being a member of the Senior Lawyers Division (SLD)?
The SLD is open to all active and retired MBA Members over age 60 or those who have been practicing for over 30 years. The SLD allows members to stay connected to each other and the Mecklenburg County legal community through networking events of interest to the senior lawyer. The Division also provides assistance to lawyers and judges transitioning in their careers. The cost to join is $35/year. Questions regarding MBA SLD Membership should go to sld@meckbar.org.
