Program Overview
Domestic Violence, Trauma, and Family Law. When all three connect, things can become unstable, emotional, and explosive both inside and outside of the courtroom. With drastic legal changes since the Law of Coverture and stricter laws surrounding spousal abuse, this presentation seeks to provide tools to attorneys when their cases involve any form of domestic violence. Whether you dabble in family law, handle such cases full time, or just want to learn more about Domestic Violence, everyone has something to gain as we explore the various definitions of domestic violence, learn the best practices when representing domestic violence victims, analyze the remedies and gaps in the law, and assess the client's best interests amidst all of the moving parts.
