What you value most about your BLI experience: Getting to the bottom of how I communicate and what I respond to the best. I learned, for example, that I’m really a “bottom line” person, so when anyone comes in to explain a case or an issue to me, I have to ask for the bottom line up front if they want the most value out of our conversation. It’s also how I start my arguments to the Court now. All thanks to BLI!
Advice you'd give to the next BLI class: Lean in! Give it your all. The more you give and are open to the program, the more you get out of it.
Favorite volunteer role with the MCB/MBF: I’ve loved presenting as part of a couple of CLEs. I love speaking in front of people, and it’s always a good turnout at the MCB.
Greatest leadership accomplishment and why: I always thought starting a firm with amazing colleagues was going to be my greatest leadership accomplishment, but as time passes, I think it’s maintaining the great firm that we have and keeping it successful. Big jumps may be easier than staying afloat. I am consistently proud of our firm, the clients we have, the work we’ve done, and the moves we keep making.
Favorite place to go in Charlotte (pre-pandemic): Walking down to the Park Road Shopping Center with my husband to get dinner, a drink, and then seeing a movie at the Park Road movie theater.
What you do when you're not lawyering: Chasing after some pretty cute kids and reading (after said kids go to sleep!). Since the pandemic, I’ve also realized how important it is to list “hanging with family and friends” in response to this type of question.
Something on the horizon that you're excited about: Seeing vaccine numbers rise!
