The Mecklenburg Bar Foundation exists to provide our legal community with a meaningful way to give back. As lawyers, we have a responsibility not only to serve our clients but also to promote justice and fairness for our neighbors. The Foundation offers a way for us to come together as a profession and make a collective impact that reflects the very best of who we are. When we support the MBF, we demonstrate that our calling goes beyond the courtroom and into the community, where our resources can bring about real change. 

One of the main ways we fulfill this mission is through the Lawyers’ Impact Fund campaign. By pooling our contributions, we can provide significant support to local nonprofits that embody our shared values. This year, the Foundation aims to award $10,000 grants to three organizations whose work represents hope, healing, and access to justice. The Center for Community Transitions provides housing and vocational support for women returning to the community after incarceration. The Isabella Santos Foundation funds art therapy, counseling and support services for children undergoing pediatric cancer treatment. Safe Alliance provides legal advocacy and trauma counseling for survivors of domestic violence. 

The impact of this support is easy to see. A small donation can translate into an hour of legal advocacy for a domestic violence victim, essentials for a woman transitioning from incarceration, or a month of art therapy for a child. These are tangible ways our profession, working together, is making a difference.
